Dr. Sabrina MooreDirector – Student Intervention Services SC Department of Education

Dr. Sabrina B. Moore, the Director of the Office of Student Intervention Services at the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) since 2002, oversees school safety and school climate initiatives and training. In 2018, Dr. Moore oversaw the SCDE’s production of two videos designed to help educators and students understand their roles in school safety: “Reducing the Risk of School Violence: Informed Educators” and “Reducing the Risk of School Violence: Informed Students.” Since 2016, the SCDE has been awarded over $10 million in federal funds to address school safety issues under Dr. Moore’s leadership. More recently, she has been a member of a team of educators, law enforcement and fire officials, and school psychologists and mental health professionals collaborating on the development of the South Carolina School Safety Portal, which will house district safety plans, threat assessment documents, training videos and other resources. Several components of the Portal were released in November 2019 and the remaining portions are expected to be released before the end of 2020.

Dr. Moore, a graduate of Columbia College and Clemson University, has over 30 years of teaching and administrative experience in secondary and postsecondary education. She is the author of several articles and a frequent presenter at local, state, or national conferences. A recipient of the Governor and Mrs. Richard W. Riley Award for Excellence in Dropout Prevention, Dr. Moore is married to David Moore and the mother of two children, Dr. Jami Cokley Fowler and Garrison Moore.
