Anatomy of an Active Shooter Event on a College Campus

On December 6, 2023, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) experienced an active shooter event on their campus. The shooting resulted in the loss of three faculty members, with one additional injury. In this keynote panel-style presentation, leadership from Police Services and the Nevada System of Higher Education will discuss the timeline of events, emergency management protocols and the teamwork and coordination of staff, leaders and government. Moderated by Campus Safety Editor-in-Chief Robin Hattersley, attendees will leave with an understanding of the scope of teamwork in these scenarios, the roles of law enforcement and other campus employees, and how preparedness can minimize future tragedies.
