Business Development Manager, Higher Ed and Healthcare
Siemens Industry, Inc.
Currently, Tom has the privilege of representing Siemens Technologies Inc. as their Business Development Manager for Higher Education and Healthcare. Because of my law enforcement and academic security experience, which included physical security responsibilities for a campus medical center, I can relate and communicate with potential customers through a common understanding of the many issues and challenges facing them in today's world. This approach will demonstrate my willingness to listen and thereby cultivate a genuine partnership which will ultimately enhance the reputation of their unique settings.
Prior to joining the Siemens Team, I spent fourteen years at MIT in a variety of roles and most recently as their Security Operations Manager. As the Manager of the Security Operations Office, it allowed me to be designated as MIT’s sole reliable and trustworthy representative with the FBI and NRC for all pre-employment background investigations and unique research clearances on MIT's Main Campus. I developed the policies and operational needs for the oversight of all campus-wide security systems; mechanical key distribution; and ID Card Office operations. I also enjoyed a distinguished career in the law enforcement profession including five years as the Superintendent of the MBTA Transit Police in Boston.
I hold a Bachelors Degree in Law Enforcement from Western New England University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Framingham State University. I am humbled to be honored with numerous awards including my nomination for the George Hanna Memorial Award for Bravery, the highest recognition bestowed upon a police officer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
In an effort to share my experience and lessons learned, I often serve as a panelist or guest speaker with a variety of international security organizations on topics related to security and emergency management.
